Newmanstown, PA - We may be singing a different tune in July or August, but right now, there's just too much rain and it's falling at the wrong times! Especially if you're a race driver and/or fan...
Friday's heavy rainfall combined with additional showers and cloudy, damp weather on Saturday forced postponement of the scheduled racing card at Lanco's Clyde Martin Memorial Speedway on Saturday night. The precipitation also postponed, to next Saturday, all Kid's Night festivities.
Kid's Night is now May 13, when all youth (ages 12 and under) will be admitted free, and there will be games, contests, and prizes galore for all the kids in attendance.
The Quarter-Midgets of the DQMRC and Honeybrook Raceway will also be present at the Clyde on Saturday. The cars will be on display all night long, and they will also get some track time during intermission.
At 5 p.m., there will be a "chalk the block party" where kids (12 and under) will be escorted to an area outside the backstretch. They will be given sidewalk chalk and a mission: create a racing-themed drawing on the blocks that make up the retaining wall. The five feature winners from April 29 will then judge the drawings, and the winner gets to wave a green flag to start one of the Kid's Night feature races!
JesusRaceTeam.com will also have a table set up behind the grandstands where young fans can create a racing poster.
And this reminder goes out to all race teams running at Lanco's Clyde Martin Memorial Speedway...beginning this Saturday, May 13, the use of Raceivers becomes MANDATORY. Please use them all night long, beginning in warm-ups, so that any problems with your raceiver may be addressed prior to actual competition.
Gates open at 4 p.m. Warm-ups get underway at 5:30, and the first heat race goes green at 6:30. The Hyper Racing 600's, Viper Chassis 270's, HammerDown Engines 250cc Four-Strokes, Sportsman, and 125cc Micro-Sprints will compete in qualifying heats, consolations, and 25-lap main events on Saturday.
Adult General Admission is just $8.00, with discounts for Senior Citizens and Students. Since this Saturday is Kid's Night, all youth 12-and-under receive free admission.
It's Kid's Night at the Clyde; what a perfect time to come out and LIVE the excitement that is Lanco!

Newmanstown, PA - On Saturday night at Lanco's Clyde Martin Memorial Speedway, it was deja-vu all over again for Alex Bright, as he captured the season opener for the USAC Eastern Regional Midgets Presented by ARDC.
The scheduled lidlifter for the touring Midget series was supposed to occur on Friday night at Linda's Speedway, but that event was rained out so the 78th season of the American Racing Drivers Club, now in partnership with USAC, kicked off at Clyde Martin's MJF Trucking No Wing Spring Fling on Saturday. And "the Phenom", Alex Bright, continued his winning ways on the banked oval.

Newmanstown, PA - When race drivers travel halfway across the country, then have to sit around as the first two events of a four race series get washed out, well, they're going to be (understandably) quite anxious to strap in to their methanol snorting mounts and mash the throttle.
That was certainly the case on Tuesday, August 16, at Lanco's Clyde Martin Memorial Speedway, as the stars of the USAC National Midget Championship series presented a memorable show in their first-ever appearance at the Newmanstown, Pa. oval.
Newmanstown, PA - Rain on July 30 forced the postponement of arguably the biggest race of the year for weekly competitors at Lanco's Clyde Martin Memorial Speedway. With no racing scheduled for August 6, drivers had to eagerly wait out the extra week before they could strap into their mounts for the prestigious Clyde Martin Memorial Race, presented by Gold Rush Trailer Sales, which was finally spun off on a sultry, sweaty Saturday night, August 13.
Imler Takes Four-Stroke Victory; Manotti Wins 2nd Straight in 125cc
Newmanstown, PA - Lanco's Clyde Martin Memorial Speedway boasts some of the most competitive winged Micro-Sprint racing in the northeast, so it's very impressive when a driver can post consecutive victories in any of the five weekly divisions. On Saturday night, two drivers accomplished the feat as Jarid Kunkle (600cc) and Mike Rutherford (270cc) produced second-straight triumphs in their respective classes.
Blumenshine Takes Sportsman Checkered; Coen Gets 1st Win of Career; & Harrington Wins 4th in 125cc as Lanco's Clyde Martin Memorial Speedway Beats the Rain
Newmanstown, PA - Just call Alex Bright "a phenomenal clean-up guy."
The Phenom brought out his victory broom on Saturday night, sweeping both of this year's stand-alone ARDC Midget events at Lanco's Clyde Martin Memorial Speedway. Bright captured the ARDC season opener on April 2nd at Clyde Martin, then added Saturday's Star Spangled Havoc to his racing resume`. This was the final tune up for the ARDC competitors before Battleground USAC on Tuesday, August 16, when the stars of the USAC National Midget Series visit Lanco's Clyde Martin Memorial Speedway for the very first time.
