It wasn’t a full moon night at the Clyde Martin Memorial Speedway on Saturday, but at times, it sure did feel like it. Hard racing, wild action, a little bit of calamity were all themes of the evening as seven features were contested around the Newmanstown bullring – a regularly-scheduled show for all five weekly divisions, plus makeup features for both the Border Magic 270s and the 125/4 Strokes.
An on point track surface led to a thrilling night of competition, and six different drivers all took checkered flags during the A-Main action. James Roselli added his name to the list of Lanco winners by taking a chaotic Hyper Racing Wingless 600 feature, while Jason Swavely scored win number two of the year in the EVO Fuel Injection Winged 600s. Brent Shearer backed up his Pistol Pete Duel triumph with a makeup feature win in the Border Magic 270s, while Billy Logeman claimed the regularly scheduled show. Brandon Heist made it back-to-back Step Brothers Concrete & Fence Sportsman wins, and John Maurer continued his dominant start to the season by sweeping the races in the 125/4 Strokes.
Hyper Racing Wingless 600
The original Saturday night plan for Brodheadsville’s James Roselli consisted of 358 Sprint Car competition. But with Mother Nature not playing nice, the opportunity arose for him to hop back behind the wheel of Jim Radney and Mike Austin’s No. 14 Hyper Racing machine. Roselli was the third and final driver to lead the feature, inheriting the top spot with 12 laps remaining and rocketing off to his first Clyde Martin Memorial Speedway win.
Roselli started the 25-lap feature in third, with James Fries and Cole Perez making up the front row at the drop of the green flag. Fries led around the bottom for the first two circuits before Perez snatched the lead on the high side on lap 3. Looking for his first Lanco win, Perez paced the thundering herd of race cars for the next several laps as the race approached halfway.
Eventually, Gunnar Pio threw his hat into the ring, as he had moved up from sixth starting position and into the runner-up spot. Last year’s class-leader in feature wins at the Clyde began hunting the No. 17 car down, and made his first bid for the lead on lap 12.
Pio couldn’t clear the slider and made contact with Perez through turns 3 and 4, but both drivers averted disaster and carried on in the top two positions. Two laps later, neither driver was as fortunate, as Pio once again got into the side of Perez’s machine trying to execute the pass. Both drivers flipped and tumbled down the banking in turn 4. Both competitors were okay, but out of the race, and Roselli avoided the chaos ahead of him to claim the top spot.
Roselli led 12th-place starter Dallas Damask from that point forward, and the No. 3B Mint Chassis kept Roselli honest as the laps wound down, keeping himself in striking distance for his first Lanco win. The critical moment was the race’s final restart with five laps to go, where Roselli quickly rocketed out to an advantage of three car lengths, and never looked back from there to secure the win.
Damask held off Dominic Schmidt in the final corner to score second, with Schmidt rounding out the podium. Matt Warner finished fourth, and Marty Brian completed the top five.

EVO Fuel Injection Winged 600
If you entered into Saturday night’s action with a No. 14 on the tail tank or top wing of your 600 micro sprint, then you had a pretty good evening at the Clyde. The familiar black and purple RTS Chassis with that number on the side found victory lane for the second time in 2025, as Fleetwood’s Jason Swavely capped off the month of May with a return to the winner’s circle.
Swavely started the 25-lap feature from the outside of row two, and followed Brian Kramer around the outside of Chris Gerhart on lap 3 to vault his way into the runner-up spot. Kramer led for the next five trips around the clay, but on the first lap after a lap 8 restart, Swavely dipped to the bottom entering turn 3 and slid into the lead coming off the corner.
Swavely was in command from that point forward, and although five separate restarts within the final five laps kept things entertaining, each late caution had no impact on the result of things at the front. At the conclusion of the last one-lap sprint, Swavely crossed the finish line four car lengths ahead of Kramer to finally seal off the victory.
Gerhart rounded out the podium with his third-place finish, and Brent Ely came home in fourth. Greyson Springer hopped aboard the Chris Snyder-owned No. 5 for the evening and brought it home with a fifth-place result.
Results:
1. 14-Jason Swavely[4]; 2. 71-Brian Kramer[2]; 3. 51-Chris Gerhart[1]; 4. 17-Brent Ely[6]; 5. 5-Greyson Springer[3]; 6. 97-Billy Logeman[11]; 7. 23-Bradley Brown[9]; 8. 53S-Shannon Slaughter[15]; 9. 5A-Anthony Yerger[10]; 10. 26-Corey Schmuck Jr[16]; 11. 15P-Christopher Panczner[7]; 12. 29-Brent Shearer[5]; 13. 51B-Amanda Onimus[14]; 14. Border Magic 270
The Border Magic 270s ran a “doubleheader” of sorts on Saturday night, with their makeup B-Main and feature event from May 17 kicking off the evening. Seven days after his biggest 270 Micro Sprint win to date, Manheim’s Brent Shearer made it twice as nice aboard the Jake Dupler-owned No. 1x, as he took the checkers in the first 270 A-Main of the night.
To earn the win, Shearer had to make his way past a hungry Dylan Pence, who was in search of his first Lanco win and paced the first seven laps of the feature event from pole position.
But Shearer set up Pence for a move off the exit of turn 2 on a lap 8 restart, barreling down the backstretch and getting inside of the No. 4 car on the entrance to turn 3. Shearer completed the pass through the turn and ran off with the lead, slotting the No. 1x machine right up against the guardrail for most of the rest of the race.
Nick Skias moved to second around the midway mark, but couldn’t mount a challenge for victory, as Shearer picked up the win with a final margin of 1.427 seconds at the finish line.
Behind those two, Toby Blumenshine threaded the needle with a few laps left to win an entertaining battle for third. Richie Hartman and Brandon Heist made up the rest of the top five.

After being involved in two incidents and flipping onto his side in the makeup feature, Reinholds’ Billy Logeman was happy to turn the page over to the regularly scheduled 270 event on Saturday night. And it was back to “regularly scheduled programming” for Logeman aboard Mike Rutherford’s No. 27o, as he picked up the $750 payday and put it in the winner’s circle for the second time in the month of May.
Logeman took the lead from polesitter Jacob Neff on the opening lap and set sail on the bottom groove, while Jason Swavely got into second spot and attempted to track him down for his second win of the night.
The gap between the two front runners began to close down as the race hit the halfway mark, with Logeman still motoring around the inside and Swavely running up against the fence. A caution on lap 15, a wing adjustment, and a slight line adjustment later, Logeman’s machine seemed to come back to life, as he pulled away from Swavely on each of the following restarts and was not challenged for the lead again until the checkered flag dropped.
Swavely held off Nick Skias for the second spot over the closing laps. Fourth place went to Brandon Heist, and Mike Skias finished fifth.

Step Brothers Concrete & Fence Sportsman
After a bit of a rocky start to 2025 at the Clyde, Jonestown’s Brandon Heist continued his much improved month of May by picking up his second straight win in Step Brothers Concrete & Fence Sportsman competition.
It took Heist a while to find his way to the front from the fourth starting position, as the first six laps were paced by Bradley Brown in Ronnie Shanaman’s No. 15. Brown made contact with a lapped car coming off of turn 4, and that allowed Ryan Heckman to shoot into the top spot, with Heist and Corey Schmuck, Jr. following through while Brown fell to fourth.
In search of his first Lanco win, Heckman kept the defending Sportsman champion behind him for the race’s next six laps. What turned out to be the pass for the win came on a lap 13 restart, as Heist got a big run off the top side of turn 2 and powered ahead of the No. 30 car to take over control of the race.
But the end result was still in some question, as Brown followed Heist past Heckman and into the runner-up position, bringing Schmuck, Jr. with him. Both the second and third-place drivers chased down the tail tank on the No. 99, closing the advantage little by little with every lap. With two laps remaining, Brown got to the back bumper of Heist, but the caution flag then waved, breaking any potential momentum that the No. 15 had.
It took three restarts to get through the final two laps, but Heist wouldn’t let the checkered flag slip away, as he held on for victory by three car lengths over Brown at the finish.
Schmuck, Jr. finished third for the fourth straight race to start the season, while Heckman settled for a fourth-place result. Kyle Lindsey rounded out the top five.
Results:
1. 99-Brandon Heist Sr[4]; 2. 15-Bradley Brown[1]; 3. 26-Corey Schmuck Jr[5]; 4. 30-Ryan Heckman[3]; 5. 28-Kyle Lindsey[9]; 6. 2-Mike Miller[11]; 7. 75-Justin Harrington[18]; 8. 17-Masen Stapleton[7]; 9. 77-Michael Kreiser[2]; 10. 27-Dylan Pennypacker[8]; 11. 20-Max Fasnacht[19]; 12. 77J-Jade Smith[12]; 13. 22J-Charles Hellinger[13]; 14. 31-Tyler Martin[6]; 15. 19-Wes Fasnacht[20]; 16. 23K-Courtney Kupp[15]; 17. 21D-Dave Williams[14]; 18. 21V-David Ravel[10]; 19. 9X-Mason Ruffner[16]; 20. 05-Evan Lawrence[17]

125/4 Stroke
After winning two of the first three 125/4 Stroke races of the season, John Maurer pulled off a feat seldom accomplished at the Clyde Martin Memorial Speedway. Not only did Maurer claim the win of the makeup feature from May 17, but he then came from sixth in the regular feature to sweep the evening, scoring two 125/4 Stroke wins in the same night.
Maurer started the makeup feature from pole position and quickly sped off from the rest of the pack behind him. The result was never in doubt, as Maurer eventually lapped all but the top seven drivers and picked up the win by nearly six seconds over runner-up Steve Simmons.
Behind Simmons, Rilynn Hannula notched her career-best finish at the Clyde with a third-place effort. Brent Shearer rallied from an early-race incident to come home fourth, and Dave Schroeder wound up fifth.
The task was tougher in race two, as Maurer attempted to climb from sixth while Hannula started from the pole position and led the pack early on through the first chunk of the race.
It only took until lap 3 for Maurer to advance from sixth all the way into second, but he had a tougher time navigating past the No. 89 at the front of the field. After running in Hannula’s tire tracks for several laps, Maurer finally made the pass for the lead and the win with a nice high-to-low move through turns 3 and 4 on lap 14.
Maurer once again dominated the rest of the race from that point on, opening up the lead to a final margin of victory of 2.409 seconds.
Shearer came from ninth to finish in second, while Schroeder made it two Mongooses on the podium with a third. Hannula brought her machine home in fourth, and Trevor Waegel finished in fifth.
